A long Lenten weekend for lecturers, teachers and those interested in higher education.

As Christians we are committed to understanding education in the context of the picture of God and humanity that our faith teaches. The weekend will allow us to ponder our faith and its relation to learning.

What lessons can we learn today from William Wordsworth’s meditations on education?
This long weekend is open to anyone interested in education and literature.

It will include poetry readings, reflections on education, and visits to places associated with Wordsworth.

The weekend will include talks and discussion, time to walk or sight-see, the opportunity for shared prayer, and time to relax, reflect chat and in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
It is aimed in particular at university and college lecturers who are Christians of any persuasion. Anyone with teaching experience in higher education who is sympathetic to its general aims would also be welcome to come.

This year’s theme: Wordsworth & Education

This year we will explore the theme of Wordsworth and Education, including visits to local places associated with William Wordsworth and shared reading of his poetry.

The weekend will be led by Joyce Simpson, former Senior Lecturer in English and Head of Humanities, Leeds Trinity University.

Professor Rosemary Mitchell, Professor of History, Leeds Trinity University.
