Update on the gardens 2021

Thanks!

We have a long list of people to thank for some recent improvements:

Glyn Jones of Grange Shed for making, donating and installing a barn owl box (watch this space!)

Julia and Martin for removing some unwanted Leylandii and providing and planting willow branches, budding into willow hedges almost before our eyes; Julia, Cath and John, Joyce, James, Bob, Barbara, Janet, Jeni, Deidre and Ann for donations of trees, plants and compost equipment, including a mulberry tree in memory of Larry and a cherry tree in memory of Mavis; and David, Andrea, Johnny and Peter for their care, expertise and hard work.

Green Group

Our local ‘green group’ Peninsula Environmental Action Together have started two projects: Seedlings, which encourages people to grow their own food, however small a space they have, and Greening Cartmel Peninsular, in which households commit themselves to small ways of greening their everyday lives. CLICK HERE for more information. Sisters and staff at Boarbank have already started to join in by taking home spare seedlings from the garden. We hope to encourage the Greening project in fun ways that will involve the residents – again, watch this space!

If you are visiting or live nearby and have any unneeded gardening equipment taking up room and needing a home, we would be grateful to receive it, especially wheelbarrows, large stone or clay pots or planters, netting or fruit cages and pruning equipment.
