Following our successful series of Zoom weekends ‘Your Planet and Your Parish’, we decided to hold a residential week for anyone interested in caring for God’s creation together as a Church. The week was based on the themes of the chapters of Laudato Si’, with sessions entitled Gospel, Roots, Connections, Dialogue and Spirituality. Sr Margaret (Boarbank) and John Paul (Ecological Conversion Group) led the week, with assistance from the wildlife artist Cat Coulson. As well as talks and discussions, we watched the inspiring documentary Demain, and enjoyed various artistic activities. We made the most of the location, exploring Boarbank gardens, including a night-time bat-listening session and guidance on recording species from a local expert, and a session labelling the apple trees. We also visited local RSPB reserve Leighton Moss. As usual, prayer and relaxation punctuated the week, with the opportunity to join the Sisters each day for Mass and sung Prayer of the Church, and plenty of time to be quiet or to socialise.
Forthcoming dates for Celebrating Creation: 27th-31st May and 4th-10th October 2025.
